Welcome to Astronomy For Science Fiction Enthusiasts

In the Astronomy Section, we have resources for use by science fiction writers and readers, and just about anyone else who is interested in the wide range of phenomena in the night sky.  In addition to our own astronomy resource, THE SCI FI - ARIZONA ASTROGATOR'S HANDBOOK, and the ASTROGATOR'S HANDBOOK, EXPANDED EDITION, we have a large catalog of astronomy and science  books available for  purchase from Amazon.com, the premier INTERNET bookstore.  These are not astronomy primers, but rather serious information for professionals.  You won't find "The Big Book of the Sky" in our offerings, but you will find "The God Particle: If the Universe is the Answer, What was the Question?"  We are heavily into cosmology and astrophysics here at the world's largest author-owned-and-operated INTERNET BOOKSTORE AND PUBLISHING COMPANY (if there is a bigger one, I have yet to see it.)

So, whether you are an SF writer working on your latest intergalactic romance, or are just interested in knowing more about the stars than that they are pretty lights in the sky, you may want to cruise through our stacks looking at the offerings.  If you find a book that sounds interesting, just click on the link and you will jump instantly to Amazon.com, where you can order it.  Most of the books listed ship within 24 hours.  So why is Sci Fi - Arizona helping promote a competitor's sales?  The short answer is "because they are paying us."  More importantly, however, these are the sort of books that I use when I am writing my novels and if astronomy interests you, then you should find this concentrated dose of astronomical wisdom extremely valuable.  If you know of any others that we can add, don't hesitate to write me at mccollum@scifi-az.com.

Our books are roughly divided into the following sections:

bullet

Astrogator's and Space Pilots' Resources

bullet

Astrogator's Handbook --  the 300 closest stars as viewed from the vicinity of Polaris, displayed on 5 maps.  Download for free!

bullet

Astrogator's Handbook, Expanded Edition --  the 3500 closest stars as viewed from the vicinity of Polaris, displayed on 7 overview maps and 63 quadrant maps, with 120 pages of supporting data.

bullet

Other books on navigating in space and between the stars.

bullet

Astrophysics

bullet

The physics that make the "astro" part understandable.  Do you know that we appear to have discovered the underlying principle of the universe, and that it has ten dimensions?  So where are the other six?

bullet

Cosmology and General Astronomy

bullet

For sheer "chutzpah," you can't beat a cosmologist.  Not only do they know what the universe was like 10-23 seconds after the onset of the Big Bang, they won't be happy until they know what happened at 10-24 seconds.  If you are into "BIG PICTURE" science, the picture can't get any bigger than this!

bullet

Includes the more "standard" books on astronomy, including such mundane subjects as stars and galaxies.

bullet

General Science

bullet

Books that are less technical or more general than the ones listed in the other sections.
